Texas State Barber Exam
Prepares students for the Texas State Barber Exam (written and practical). Students must also complete all practical applications mandated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
Your hours, on the floor
Every unit above is delivered on campus. The hybrid program moves 500 theory hours online and keeps the hands-on 500 here.

Real-client training
You will work on the public before you sit the exam.
All services are performed by students and supervised by an Instructor. Walk-in clients come to Student Services for $7 haircuts, shaves and facials, and you build technique and confidence on real hair with an instructor beside you.

We offer a part-time evening option for students who need more flexibility. This program allows you to complete your barber training in a longer time frame while attending evening classes.

Published schedule as of September 2026. Rolling enrollment: new classes begin every 6 to 8 weeks and always start on a Tuesday.
Tuition & payment
$9,500, broken into steps you can plan around.

Enrollment fee — at registration
Non-refundable. Covers your barber kit, shirt, smock, digital book, name tag and student permit.
First month's tuition
Due on or before the first day of class.
12 monthly payments
$625 each, due by the 5th of each month. Tuition not paid by the 5th of the month will prevent a student from clocking hours.
Enrollment fee — at enrollment
Non-refundable deposit. Same kit, uniform, book, name tag and student permit.
Balance — first day of class
A discount is available for students who pay the full balance by the first day of class. The academy sets the amount; ask admissions.

Non-refundable, as with every plan.
Weekly payments
Weekly payment plans are available. The weekly amount and schedule are set with admissions when you enroll — they are not published, so this page does not guess.

Or pay the full $9,500 in one payment: the $1,125 non-refundable deposit at enrollment and the balance on the first day of class. A discount is available for students who pay the full balance by the first day of class.

Cosmetology Crossover
Already a licensed cosmetologist? 300 hours gets you the barber license too.
A 300-hour pathway for licensed cosmetologists to earn the Class A Barber license and work in both cosmetology and barber establishments.
